About Your Teacher

  About Mrs. Morgan--

As many of you know, I've been teaching for awhile, but sometimes it seems like only yesterday that I started doing what I love! I have taught for the past thirty-five years, from pre-school to fifth grade. I am so excited to be teaching second grade again this year! I have an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (GO HEELS!!) and a Master’s degree in Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University. I became a National Board Certified teacher in 2002 and renewed that certification in 2011. My husband, Steve, is an Astronomy professor and the planetarium director at Young Harris College.  He is a UNC graduate too, so we LOVE Carolina basketball! We also love to hike and travel--to see the awesome wonders of the world we live in. We have two amazing sons. Adam is a writer, has published several books, and works for a non-profit organization in Chicago. He and Erin are expecting a little girl this summer-- which means I will be a Grandma! Alex lives in Denver, Colorado, where he works as a compliance analyst for a financial firm. His wife, Mandee, teaches fourth grade. At the end of each school day, I try to ask myself one question: Would I have been proud to have had my boys in my classroom today if they were seven years old again? If I can answer "YES!" then I feel I have done my job well--and that is my promise to you--to do my utmost each day to make second grade the best it can be!
